In our Biblical Byways Lent Course this week, (text attached) we bring together both these&nbsp;interests, as we look at some of the psalms. In my introduction I remind you that&nbsp; &#8216;the Psalms are among the oldest poems in the world&#8230; In life, some of the most important things we want to say remain just a little beyond even our best words. Poetry recognises this, and with precision and economy of language, does its best to point beyond the words to realities that transcend even the heights of our descriptive imagination.&#8217;<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">The psalms were also written to be sung in worship. Jesus himself would have known many of them by heart and would have heard them when he worshipped in the synagogue.
