This news was received with regret as we all very much appreciate what Dermot, assisted by Valda, has done as regards promoting music in the parish for the last number of years. We are delighted to note that Dermot will be only moving a short distance in retirement, from the organ stool to the base line in the choir. He will also deputise as an organist from time to time.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On\u00a0Sunday, 8th November\u00a0at <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Choral Evensong and the \u200bAnnual Act of Remembrance<\/span><\/strong> at St Fin Barre&#8217;s Cathedral \u200bthe Bishop will dedicate the Diocesan World War 1 memorial installation to mark the centenary of the war (1914-1918).\u00a0 Parishioners and their friends from throughout the Diocese are encouraged to attend and a particular invitation is extended to everyone who submitted photographs and information about loved ones (casualties of the war and war veterans) for inclusion in the memorial.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Discovery Gospel Choir &#8216;Look Up&#8217; Concert<\/strong>\u00a0with the\u00a0Bandon Grammar School Choir\u00a0takes place\u00a0on\u00a0Saturday 14th November at 7.30 p.m.\u00a0in St. Peter&#8217;s Church in Bandon.\u00a0 Donations welcome on the night.\u00a0\u00a0 Money raised will be supporting the Christian Aid Christmas Appeal [Nigeria \u2013 mosquito nets]. \u00a0It promises to be a fantastic night of music.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Bible Study<\/span><\/strong> will take place in the home of Ailsa Jones, Passage on Wednesday, 18<sup>th<\/sup> November at 2.30pm and in the home of Carol Boylan, Moneygourney on Thursday, 19<sup>th<\/sup> November at 7.30pm.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Coffee Morning<\/span><\/strong> will be held in St Mary&#8217;s Church Hall Marmullane on\u00a0Saturday 21st November\u00a0from\u00a010am &#8211; 12 noon\u00a0in aid of Hall Restoration funds. Entry 3 euros to include scone and coffee\/tea. \u00a0Sales table and raffle.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Between <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">November and February<\/span><\/strong>, it has been decided that the side transept door in St. Luke\u2019s will be closed for normal Sunday services to maintain heat in the church.
