‘Soup & Rolls Lunch’ in aid of Charity – CPH after 11.15am service.  All candidates are to be involved in the service and then in serving the lunch afterwards.

 

Ecumenical Service in the Cathedral of Ss. Mary & Anne, Cork (North Cathedral) will take place today, Sunday 25th February at 3pm.  Participating in the service will be Rev. Geraldine Gracie, Methodist Church, Rev. Sarah Marry, Church of Ireland and Fr. Christopher Fitzgerald, Roman Catholic Church.  All welcome.

 

Certificate in Christian Studies: The information and application forms for the new Certificate in Christian Studies, which is being run by the Diocese with the support of St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth, are now available in the churches.  Spaces are limited on this course, so book promptly.

 

In the Name of Love: Talking about Family

Have the Christian churches fallen behind in their understanding of family or can theologies of family offer new perspectives in a changing landscape? A talk and discussion about where Christian understanding meets modern family life.  Dr Daniel O’Connell lectures in education and spirituality at Mary Immaculate College Limerick and is married and dad to two children. On Sunday, 4th March RTE Morning Service will be conducted bilingually by Bishop Michael Burrows, preacher Rev Tony Murphy, features three of our parishioners and was organised by Cumann Gaelach na hEaglaise.

 

 

Bible Studies will take place in the home of Joan Miller, Ballintemple on Wednesday, 7th March at 2.30pm and in the home of Carol Boylan, Moneygourney on Thursday, 8th March at 7.30pm.

 

Douglas Churches Together:  A meeting for volunteers willing to help in Holy Week will be held on Thursday 8th March at 7.30pm, venue TBC.

 

Anam Cara, the organisation that supports bereaved parents, is holding its next monthly Parent Evening on Wednesday 7thof March from 19:30 to 21:00 in the Clayton Hotel, Silver Springs, Tivoli, Cork. This event is open to all bereaved parents regardless of the age your child died, the circumstances of their death, or whether the death was recent or not.

 

 

Lent Men’s Breakfast will be held in Bull McCabe’s, Airport Hill on Saturday, 10th March at 9am.  Guest speaker will be Mr. John Creedon from RTE.  Tickets are €12.50 which include a full cooked breakfast.  Tickets will be available from:

Andrew Chambers Memorial Match in Aid of The Irish Heart Foundation. We wish to thank everyone for their continued support, donations of raffle prizes and cakes to our annual fundraiser. Christian Aid Last week I received a letter from Christian Aid thanking the parish for the donation of €2396.23 which was money received from the Rectory Christmas Coffee Morning and the collections taken at the Ecumenical Carol Services in Passage and Blackrock just before Christmas.
