The St. Luke’s School Christmas Annual Fair will be held in the Canon Packham Hall on Sunday 2nd December from 12.15 – 2.30. The Parents’ Association would also welcome donations of baked goods, Christmas arrangements and toys. Any donations can be left in the Canon Packham hall on Saturday 1st or on the morning of the fair. Contact can be made with a member of the Parents’ Association through the school office. All welcome!

Prepare the Way.  There will be a special evening service at 7pm in St. Luke’s Church Douglas on Advent Sunday, 2nd December. Through the use of candles, images, as well as music and meditations from the Iona Community, it will be reflective in nature and should provide an opportunity to stop and take stock at the start of Advent, before the rush of office parties, shopping days and carol concerts.

Royal British Legion/Earl Haig Poppy Fund.  Having organised the poppy collection in Douglas and Frankfield for many years I would like to thank the parishioners for their generosity.  It was much appreciated.  The collections were Douglas €359.50, Frankfield €490.26 and Blackrock €129.15.  Many thanks to John Wolfe and Keith Dawson for their help.  Cecil Locke

The ‘Licensing of Andrew Coleman and other Diocesan Lay Readers’ will take place today in St Fin Barre’s Cathedral at 3.30pm.

Saturday 1st December at 12 noon in St Fin Barre’s Cathedral the inauguration of Ireland’s first President Dr Douglas Hyde 80 years ago and the founding of Conradh na Gaeilge will be remembered at the Irish Eucharist. All welcome; translations of readings always provided.

A Diocesan Memorial Service for the late Canon Patrick Hewitt will be held in the Church of St Mary, Dunmanway (Fanlobbus Union) where Patrick served for the greater part of his time in Cork, Cloyne and Ross.  Date and Time:  Saturday, 8th December at 12 noon. All welcome.

A Ceremony of Carols and other seasonal music performed by St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral Choir will take place on Saturday, 15th December at 7pm in St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral.  Admission €10.  Tickets available in the Cathedral Shop or at the door.
