Dear Parishioners and friends,

This Sunday is the day set aside in the church calendar when we remember the baptism of Jesus in the river Jordan by John. If we were in church tomorrow, we might have a baptism or in St Luke’s Church host a special service for all those who were baptised in the parish in the past year, after which the leaves from the baptism tree would be distributed. Unfortunately this year, it can’t happen but I have recorded a special service from St Luke’s Church which in part focuses on all the symbols of baptism on the banner in the baptistry. It is also an occasion to give thanks to God for all that we receive through baptism and for the fellowship we enjoy with others through our baptism. It will be available on the Youtube channel from 7pm this evening. I hope you enjoy it. The link to it is here:

I am glad to report that I have stuck to my commitment to walk at least 5Km every day in January, though I have to admit that the icy roads and footpaths have presented a challenge in recent days! I know from emails and phone calls that some of you are doing it too, or have set your own walking goals for January. It is good that we can support one another in this way and keep connected. The more people that get out and take some exercise this month the better. If you would like to sponsor me, you might like to go to the dedicated GoFundMe page which you can find by clicking here:

I would like to thank all those who have supported me to date. I am now well over half way in meeting my target of €3000 to be divided equally between Douglas Union with Frankfield, Cork Penny Dinners and the Church of Ireland Bishops’ Appeal for overseas aid and development.

Finally the Bishop has asked me to highlight the Cork City ‘Minding your mood‘ programme which is linked to HERE

Stay safe everyone – every blessing,

Adrian
