Dear parishioners,

I’m sure many of you watched the news last night and saw the statement by An Taoiseach that as a country we are all to move to level 3 restrictions in the government plan ‘Living with Covid-19’. This will be a great disappointment to us all but hardly surprising given the fact that case numbers were increasing across the county and country. Now we must do all in our power to limit the spread of this virus.
The result of this is that all midweek and Sunday services in church will cease until these restrictions are lifted and we move back to level 2. Funerals may be held in church still but with very small congregations. I will be recording a service each week which will be put up on the parish YouTube channel at the weekend. I will continue to keep in contact with you regularly via email. I am aware that not everyone in the parish has access to the internet and so please pass on information to those you know who might miss out.

We are living in times that are unprecedented in our experience. This calls for patience and understanding. We continue to pray for our political leaders and public health experts in the difficult decisions that they must take. We also pray for all healthcare workers, for those providing essential services and who work in education, as well as for those engaged in medical research. We are also mindful of those in business whose livelihoods will be impacted by these restrictions. Through what will be a challenging period ahead, we continue to hold on to the Christian hope that light ultimately triumphs over darkness and love overcomes fear.

Yours in Christ,

Adrian
